Montreal, Canada: Air Canada, owned by Montreal-based ACE Aviation Holdings Inc., has said that it was increasing its Boeing 787 Dreamliner orders to 37 from 14. This makes it the largest North American customer for the plane.
The new aircraft, which are scheduled for delivery beginning 2010, will replace the carrier's Airbus A340s and A330s and Boeing 767s.
The 787 burns about 27% less fuel than many other aircraft, thanks to its partial use of composite materials instead of metal.
The airline, which is in the process of renewing its fleet, also said that it has reduced its original Boeing 777 firm orders by two.
