New Delhi: India's fifth largest IT services exporter HCL Technologies (HCL) on Thursday announced that it has been chosen as a key partner to provide product engineering services and technical publication services to EADS. It now becomes one of EADS' 28 Tier-I partners out of its existing pool of around 2,000 suppliers.

European consortium, EADS, is a global leader in aerospace defence and related services. It is currently re-structuring its enterprise to become a more profitable entity. A part of its global sourcing strategy, the move would enable EADS to achieve significant cost reductions, increase global competitiveness and widen global industrial reach, an HCL release said.

Currently, EADS spends about €2 billion per annum on engineering services, which includes research, modelling, flight physics and design of aircraft. The consolidated supplier base, which covers the entire EADS Group, is expected to lead to significant cost reductions.

The services provided by HCL would be delivered to EADS Group from its Indian Design Centre in Bangalore.
