Air Arabia, the first foreign low-cost carrier (LCC) to begin operations to India, and also the first and largest low-cost carrier in the Middle East and North Africa region, said its passenger average load factor for the Q1 of 2008 stood at 94% across its destinations network in India.
The airline ferried 246,296 passengers on the Sharjah – India routes for the Q1 of 2008, an increase of 43% per cent compared to 172,246 passengers during the same period in 2007.
Air Arabia currently provides direct services to Ahmedabad, Chennai, Jaipur, Kochi, Mumbai, Nagpur, Coimbatore, Thiruvanathapuram, Bangalore, Kozhikode and Delhi, which represents the largest Indian network of any Middle East airline to serve India.
It also connects over 39 destinations internationally.
''India is an important market for Air Arabia and we are committed on providing best value for money air travel'' said Rohit Ramachandran, regional manager, India and Sri Lanka. ''High frequencies, on-time performance along with safe travel and affordable fares represent the unique service we offer to our customers. Passengers flying between India and UAE have lots of innovative services to expect from Air Arabia in the near future'' he added.
The airline said that on-time performance achieved across its network in India was in excess of 95%.
It also said that another key factor for its success in India was the great connectivity it offered to the Middle East, even from non-metro cities. It said it had made an effort to operate to smaller, less congested airports closer to the customer base. This has benefited passengers, many of whom have accessed international low cost travel for the first time.
Air Arabia, listed on the Dubai Financial Market, is the Middle East and North Africa's leading low-cost carrier (LCC) and serves 39 destinations across the Middle East, North Africa, Indian sub-continent and Central Asia through its main hub in Sharjah, United Arab Emirates.
