Deccan records 33 per cent y-o-y growth, crosses 15 million passenger milestone

Bangalore: Deccan, India's first and fastest growing low cost carrier, has crossed the 15 million mark in terms of overall passenger volume .It has also recorded a 33 per cent year–on-year increase in passenger traffic, as compared to 2006.

The average load factor has gone up to a record high of 81 per cent, from January to July 2007, as against the average load factor of 76 per cent in the last calendar year.

This year, Deccan has already flown 6.79 million passengers, as against 5.55 million passengers flown between January and December 2006. The 2006 mark was crossed in September this year, while the overall 15 million-passenger mark was crossed recently.

It is estimated that by December 31, 2007, approximately 7.3 million passengers would have flown Deccan, in this year alone.

Ramki Sundaram, officiating CEO of Deccan said: "We are immensely pleased to reach the 15 million passenger landmark in a short period of four years. The numbers are testimony to our commitment to empowering every Indian to fly and bring us closer to our vision. "
