Airports at Vizag and Tiruchi to be upgraded to world class status
15 Oct 2007
New Delhi: Visakhapatnam and Tiruchi will soon have world-class airports, with the Airports Authority of India (AAI) planning to invite bids by the end of the month for commercial operation as well as maintenance of the terminal building. Bids will also be invited to develop, manage and operate cargo facilities and also to undertake city side development at both these airports.
According to AAI officials, the development of the two southern airports would be broadly on the lines being followed for the development of the Amritsar and Udaipur airports.
The AAI had called for a Request for Quotation for outsourcing on a long-term basis the maintenance and commercial exploitation of the new terminal buildings at the Amritsar and Udaipur airports earlier this month. It is expected that bidders will submit their proposals by the middle of next month.
