The group of channels in the TV18 bouquet on Monday bagged five trophies at the Ramnath Goenka Awards for Excellence in Journalism. Three of them went to CNN-IBN.

Preeti Singh, who went deep inside the flood-hit Karnool district of Andhra Pradesh to bring out a story for the channel on how people were surviving nature's fury, got her the Best On the Spot Reporter of the Year Award.

"The most difficult part was reaching the spot with the highways not working," Preeti said.

The top award, 'Journalist of the Year Broadcast', went to the managing editor of CNBC TV18, Udayan Mukherjee. The final award of the night, Best Print Journalist of the year went to the man who first exposed the 2G scam, J Gopikrishnanof 'The Pioneer'.

Winning the award for the second time for reporting from the Northeast was Arijit Sen for relentlessly bringing out the unheard stories from the often neglected north-western states.

"I hope people become a bit more sensitive towards the Northeast," Arijit said.

Anubha Bhonsle's production of 'Paisa Power Politics' won her the Best Political Reporter Award.

IBN lokmat, another TV18 channel, saw Aarti Kulkarni winning the Best Environment Reporter award.
