Allied Telesyn's growth was ahead of the EMEA LAN switch market in general. The EMEA LAN switch market grew by 14 per cent to a total of 17.3 million ports from 15.2 million over the same period. Cisco's shipments were up 31.7 per cent on its fourth quarter 2003 performance, HP was up 8.6 per cent, Netgear was up 1.6 per cent, whilst 3Com struggled with shipments down by 12.5 per cent.
Peter Hulleman, senior research analyst at IDC, explains, "Fast Ethernet shipments overall were up 9.6 per cent to 15 million ports. Most vendors were able to increase their market share of this segment, but most notable were the increases of Allied Telesyn, Cisco and Accton / SMC."
James White, international marketing director, Allied Telesyn, said, "2004 started with a bang for us, including a very successful channel promotion and well received announcements at CeBIT for our 10G and IPv6 strategies."
