Deccan crosses 15 million passengers benchmark

Bangalore: Low cost carrier Deccan has announced the attainment of the benchmark of crossing 15 million passengers in a short period of four years.

This year, Deccan has already flown 6.79 million passengers, against the count of 5.55 million passengers flown between in calendar year 2006.

In a statement, Deccan said that it recorded a 23 per cent year-on-year increase, compared to passenger volumes in 2006. The average load factor in the January-July 2007 period, according to the company, was 81 per cent as against 76 per cent in the last calendar year.   

Deccan estimates that by 31 December, 2007, around 7.3 million passengers would have flown Deccan in this year alone. Ramki Sundaram, officiating CEO, Deccan, said in 2007 Deccan commenced operations to Leh, Dharamshala, Shimla, Jodhpur, Udaipur and Jamshedpur, and increased frequency on other sectors as well.
