Red Hat appoints Praveen Sawkar''s regional manager, South

Mumbai: Red Hat, the world's premier open source and Linux provider, has appointed Praveen Sawkar as regional manager for the southern region. Sawkar's appointment will help Red Hat further expand its reach in to the states of Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Kerala.
Announcing the appointment, Javed Tapia, director - Red Hat India said, "With the open source architecture finding greater acceptance by government, enterprise and education segments in the country, we are focusing on spreading our reach to every part of India. Sawkar's experience, especially in the southern market will help us strengthen our presence in the region."
Open source architecture (OSA) is Red Hat's long-term vision for the deployment of open source solutions. It assembles a suite of standards-based technologies and services, which allows open source and traditional software applications to be deployed in a predictable environment. The OSA also provides comprehensive systems management that enables improved enhancements that reduce IT staffing costs.
"Sawkar is a seasoned professional with a unique depth and breadth of experience in IT sales and marketing. His appointment will help lead Red Hat's growth in the booming IT markets of Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Kerala." said Sachin Dabir, Head Enterprise Sales, Red Hat India.

Praveen has worked with Dunlop India Ltd, Godrej Pacific Technologies Ltd.and Wipro Infotech, where he was business head, Mangalore, Goa, and North Karnataka.
Red Hat India Pvt Ltd., is a joint venture between Red Hat Inc, USA and Clover Technologies, India, has been in existence since December 2000, bringing the latest Open Source technology to India.
