Engineering equipment manufacturer Cummins India Ltd today reported disruption at its Kothrud facility in Pune following an agitation by its production associates.

The production associates have resorted to an "illegal" agitation beginning 15 September to demand the re-opening of a six-month-old wage agreement, Cummins informed the BSE in a statement.

However, the agitation has not affected operations at other plants, which continue run normally, the company said.

Tension at the Kothrud plant ran high as 300 managers were prevented from leaving the office premises till late on Tuesday evening following an agitation by the workers.

Work at the plant came to a halt today and the company said it might suspend operations indefinitely if the situation did not improve.

According to a Cummins official, incidents of violence have been reported in and outside the factory premises over the last couple of days.
