Bangalore: TeamLease Services, India's largest staffing company, and the government of Rajasthan had organised a 'Livelihood Mela' on 14 March at Sri Bhavani Niketan, Jaipur that saw participation from over 35,000 job aspirants, 90 employers, and 15 assessment and training companies.
The event saw a record 5000 candidates received jobs in what was the largest mela ever in the country.
TeamLease has been engaged with the Rajasthan Government to reposition and restructure traditional job melas, which tackle the matching problem, into livelihood melas that address the mismatch problem.
This 'Vishal Rozgar Mela' for the first time under one roof, included job assessment by employers for job fitment, assessment for interest and aptitude, counselling for job suitability or skill repair, and registration for training programmes.
The event connected job aspirants with employers, assessment counsellors, and training professionals. The event facilitated the registration for training for candidates unable to get a job in this round to position them for the next mela.
Addressing the occasion before individually congratulating some of the successful job seekers, Rajasthan chief minister Vasundhara Raje said, "We are revamping our skill development infrastructure in anticipation of the 8 lacs jobs that will be created by the massive investment of Resurgent Rajasthan. Our livelihoods mission is unique among states with outcome based spending and we have recently increased budgetary allocation by 500 per cent. Money is no constraint for this key policy priority."
Manish Sabharwal, chairman, TeamLease Services said, ''We are honoured to work with Rajasthan government to organise this mela that represents public private partnerships for livelihoods at their best. It represents a very specific step by a state government in repositioning such events to not only target employment but also employability.''
The employers that participated in the mela included Reliance Money, ICICI Lombard, Godrej and Boyce, Vodafone, Tata Teleservices, Shoppers Stop, Hindustan Unilever, Eureka Forbes, Infosys, Group4Securitas, Tops Security Group, etc. The assessment and training companies included NIIT, Educomp, Career Launcher, Adayana, Smart Skills, Merittrac, etc.
