Techspan, Noida awarded software CMM level 5 rating

Mumbai: TechSpan India Limited, today announced that its Noida global delivery centre has achieved Software Engineering Institute''s (SEI), Software Capability Maturity Model (CMM) level 5 rating. TechSpan had earlier achieved People-CMM level 3 rating in February 2002 and post the SEI-CMM level 5 assessment joins the elite group of 20 companies in the world that are simultaneously People-CMM and Software-CMM assessed.

Techspan was assessed SEI-CMM level 5 after an exhaustive evaluation involving software development, testing, maintenance and support activities at its Noida Global Development Centre (GDC). The scope of assessment included software ® CMM (version 1.1) maturity level 2 through 5 KPAs (excluding software subcontract management) where TechSpan achieved the best possible maturity level rating of 5. The assessment was based on the CBA IPI (V1.2) methodology and was led by SEI certified lead assessor Rajesh Naik along with 10 members of TechSpan team.

Expressing satisfaction on the SEI-CMM level 5 assessment, Harsh Singh Lohit, managing director, TechSpan India Limited and Sponsor Global Software Process Improvement said, "For a young organisation like ours, the S-CMM level 5 assessment is a strong endorsement of our process excellence and stringent quality standards."

He added, "Preparations are already underway to make our Bangalore Securities Centre Software-CMM level 3 assessed by December 31, 2004."

SEI is a research and development centre chartered to improve software engineering practices. The CMM rating is awarded after exhaustive independent evaluation involving analysis and review of software development capabilities, processes and products. This assessment is designed to help buyers evaluate and determine reliable and low-risk suppliers of software products and services.

With software CMM level 5, Techspan''s clients can now look towards better cost, effort and schedule predictions, highest productivity levels providing a cost benefit and a strict control on product quality.
