IT bellwether Infosys Technologies has estimated the total value of its human resources at Rs1,02,133 crore in the financial year 2008-09, potentially valuing each at around Rs97 lakh – down from Rs1.08 crore in the previous financial year. In its annual report for the financial year 2008-09 ended 31 March, Infosys has projected the earning potential of its human resources, including both software professionals and support staff, at Rs1,02,133 crore. Infosys had 1,04,850 employees during the period. Infosys could add only 13,663 employees in 2008-09 although it had taken 28,231 employees during the year. The company expects the year ahead to be challenging on the HR front. For the fiscal year ended 31 March 2008, Infosyas had reported the value of its human resources at Rs98,821 crore. Its total workforce stood at 91,187 then. In the 2008-2009 financial year Infosys had 97,349 software professionals and 7,501 support staff, the report said. Infosys said the valuation of human resources has been done on the present value of future earnings of employees – both in India and overseas - including both direct and indirect compensation, and few other factors. The value was computed using the `Lev & Schwartz' model, the report noted. ''Our continuous investment in capability development, training and certification would make us more competitive,'' Infosys HRD and Education & Research head TV Mohandas Pai had said while releasing the annual earnings figures. "We have tightened our performance management system to create a more focused workforce," he added. Infosys' employee strength has steadily grown over the past five financial years. From 23,377 in 2003-04 its employee strength rose to 32,178 in 2004-05, to 44,658 in 2005-06 and to 59,831 in 2006-07.
