S Karthik is managing director of Analog Devices' India Centre

Bangalore: Analog Devices (www.analog.com), a global leader in high-performance semiconductors for signal processing applications, has announced the appointment of S Karthik as the managing director of its India Product Development Centre (IPDC).

In this new capacity, Karthik will be responsible for the growth of IPDC in the areas of Chip Design (DSP and mixed signal chips), DSP software development and DSP Application engineering. Karthik takes over from Reddy Penumalli, who is returning to Analog Devices, USA.

Karthik has been with IPDC since 1999. In his prior capacity as the senior design manager of Analog Devices India, he has been responsible for the design of the highly successful family of Sharc DSPs. Prior to joining Analog Devices, Karthik was a senior engineering manager at the National Semiconductor, Bangalore.

Karthik brings with him a detailed knowledge spanning over 14 years of industry experience in areas of chip design, software development and management. He was also instrumental in developing a fault grading software for the Pentium-Protm at Intel Corp, Folsom, USA. Karthik has an MS and PhD in computer engineering from the University of Texas at Austin, USA. He obtained his BE from the University of Madras.

Analog Devices established its presence in India in 1985 with a sales and solutions team. IPDC was started in Bangalore in 1995. The focus of the design centre is on digital signal processing (DSP), analogue and mixed signal chips. In the first seven years, IPDC has developed 5 DSP. IPDC is equipped with state-of-the-art hardware and software facilities that include high performance Unix workstations and PCs, and design tools from leading EDA vendors.
