Chennai:
Touchtel, India''s first and largest private fixed-line
telecom service provider from Bharti, has crossed the
5 lakh-customer milestone. Touchtel''s customer base increased
from 4 lakh in June 2003 to over 5 lakh in early October
2003.
What
makes this achievement unique is the fact that it has
been achieved within one-and-a-half year of the launch
of its services in the four new circles of Delhi, Tamil
Nadu, Karnataka and Haryana.
Out
of the 5 lakh phones, Touchtel has installed over 4.4
lakh phones in offices and homes; these provide telecom
connectivity to close to 2 million users. In addition,
the company has also put in place an extensive network
of 60,000 public call offices (PCO), which in turn provide
telecom services to another 38 million users. Overall,
Touchtel is servicing 40 million users.
Striving
for perfection, Touchtel has taken forward the Six Sigma
Quality programme, which is running in all its circles.
Six Sigma is an advanced quality approach, which drives
towards a benchmark performance of ensuring quality
compliance of 99.99967 per cent. Touchtel is an offering
from Bharti Infotel, a subsidiary of Bharti Televentures.
