Mumbai:
D-Link India ()
has commissioned a sophisticated global tech support centre
in Mumbai. This centre will provide voice-based technical
support for D-Link products to English speaking D-Link
overseas business units (OBUs) worldwide.
This
centre has a capacity of 100 seats and is presently
manned by over 50 engineers with a high level of technical
knowledge. The number of seats will be increased to
200 in the near future.
Currently
D-Link USA outsources around 200 seats for technical
support within the US. These would be outsourced to
D-Link India as a business venture and will not only
result in savings for D-Link USA but also in handsome
revenues for D-Link India.
By
mid-September 2003, D-Link India will start by offering
tech support service to D-Link USA and cater to 20 per
cent of its current call traffic. Over a period, it
will ramp up to meet a larger share of the US unit''s
call traffic and other English-speaking D-Link OBUs.
D-Link
India''s global tech support centre is expected to generate
good revenues in FY-2004 and contribute substantially
to the profitability of the company in FY-2005. Unlike
normal call centres, D-Link will be offering knowledge-based
support service, which calls for high level of technical
skills in networking and communications as well as specialised
facilities like simulation test labs and live product
testing.
There
is an increasing global trend towards outsourcing to
India and D-Link India is well placed to cater to the
high-end technical support needs of the global networking
and communications industry. It also enjoys tremendous
advantage as far as opportunities are concerned as several
D-Link OBUs are currently outsourcing their various
requirements. It will be D-Link India''s endeavour to
garner a substantial share of this profitable business.
Says
D-Link International president Tony Tsao: "It is
my privilege to inaugurate another D-Link centre of
excellence. Various D-Link OBUs are looking at options
of outsourcing from India in the areas of technical
support, contract manufacturing and technology development.
With its pool of highly-skilled manpower, strong knowledge
base in networking and communications technology and
world-class systems and business processes, D-Link can
look forward to business from D-Link OBUs and also other
leading companies world-wide."
Adds
D-Link India chairman and managing director K R Naik:
"This global tech support centre marks yet another
milestone in D-Link India''s growth path. We have the
advantage of assured business at rates that will ensure
a win-win situation for both D-Link India and D-Link
USA. The success of this initiative will open the doors
to substantial business from other international companies."
Says
D-Link Corporation chief financial officer A P Chen:
"D-Link India has been one of the star performers
in the D-Link group. Over the last three years, it has
registered commendable growth in sales with a compounded
annual growth rate (CAGR) of over 36 per cent while
the net profit has grown at a CAGR of 47 per cent. More
creditably, this growth has been achieved in a most
challenging period when global economies were facing
unprecedented recession and downturn. With the Indian
economy picking up, I am sure D-Link India will grow
at a even faster rate."
