Mumbai:
Core Projects Technologies Ltd and IBM have teamed up to offer IT solutions in
the education sector to the central and state governments.
Core
Projects & Technologies Ltd and IBM will work together to innovate and provide
IT solutions in multiple areas of education and government space, including the
Sarv Shiksha project, the two said at a news briefing. Core
Projects has already developed a total solution for the government of Jharkhand,
which enables it to track funds allocated by the central government for various
aspects of the programme. It also allows the state government to assess individual
progress and performance of students and teachers. "We
are in negotiations with various states for providing this solution. The present
system that Core has made available to Jharkhand government is not on an IBM platform
but the one coming up in the other states will be on the IBM platform,'''' said
IBM country manager (government and education) Satish Kaushal. Kaushal
added that these states were looking at replicating the success story of Jharkhand
and said that the finances for the project will come from the component of Sarv
Siksha Project, which earmarks one per cent of the total allocation towards IT
solutions. ''''We
will be soon making a presentation to the Ministry of Human Resource & Development
on the IT solution availability,'''' Core chief executive Prakash Gupta said. In
May 2007, the company successfully closed its FCCB issue of $80 million, and the
same were listed in Singapore Exchange Securities Trading Ltd (SGX). Part of the
proceeds (Rs43 crore) from this was invested in building a core knowledge centre.
