Infosys, India's largest IT consulting and service provider, has for long been regarded as a pioneer and a leader in the Indian IT sector, has announced the setting up of a Leadership Institute at Mysore, India. This institute is said to become the company's cornerstone of an Infosys Leadership System for Infoscions all over the world.

To be set up with an investment of Rs. 34 crore, this institute is expected to help manage Infosys' growth, to prepare Infoscions to face the complexities of the rapidly changing marketplace and to bring about a paradigm shift in the work culture by instilling leadership qualities. The company has acquired more than 200 acres of land in Mysore for setting up the Leadership Institute, which is expected to become operational by October 2001.

With the accent being on customizing training programs to suit individual needs, the institute is expected to train up to 1,000 employees each year through an array of training programmes, encompassing various leadership development elements.

While the Institute will be exclusive for Infoscions initially, it will later be expanded to cater to customers, suppliers and stakeholders.

According to Mr. N R Narayana Murthy, chairman and chief executive officer, the institute has been conceptualized to instill in the company employees the required creativity to bring new ideas to fruition, make the transition to new paradigms and embrace change.
