Jet Airways, known for its premium class services, has jumped on to the no-frills bandwagon and is all set to launch the economy service from Friday. The service called the Jet Airways Konnect will offer 10-15 per cent cheaper fares on the Mumbai-Bhopal, Udaipur and Ahmedabad routes. The airline will also link Chennai with Coimbatore, Madurai and Khochi and Bangalore with Pune and Mangalore. Sudhir Raghavan, chief commercial officer, Jet Airways Konnect commenting on the launch of the new service said that consumer demands were changing rapidly in a dynamic global environment and the company believes that the new service would give the company flexibility and speed to deploy the capacity to meet the changing trends. He said that fares would be cheaper on certain routes by 20 per cent. He added that the service will operate 58 flights daily over 19 routes. The Naresh Goyal-led airline will press into service two Boeing 737-800s and six smaller aircraft or ATRs. Jet Airways Konnect will provide passengers with meals on payment from June 1. Jet Airways will provide dedicated aircraft for the service and the flight number range will be unique to help travelers and travel agents clearly identify the class of service. Jet Airways currently operates across 63 destinations including some key cities abroad with its 86 aircraft fleet.
