According to Office Blogs, Skype for Business would offer new voice and meeting capabilities, with its integration with Office 365, and Skype for Business which would enhance the earlier version of the application.

The software giant had last year, rebranded Lync Corporate Communications platform into ''Skype for Business''. The same, helped the enterprises and also its business by creating large-scale meetings, as also better usage of meeting capabilities.

In the Microsoft Office official blog, Zig Serafin, Corporate vice president for the Skype for Business team, said, "We're enabling people to connect with one another across all forms of human expression - verbal, written, visual and emotional.

"With these new services, we will bring traditional calling and conferencing into the new era of workplace communications, and also add an entirely new way of communicating at much higher scale with much greater flexibility over the Internet. We can't wait for you to try them!

It may be noted that till date, these features were only available for the Office 365 enterprise as also the Skype for Business Plan 2. It was similar to a feature offered by Citrix's GoToMeeting product, which also allowed users to call in to a digital meeting from a standard phone.

It would allow companies to replace their phone networks and video conferencing services through either an Office 365 enterprise plan or Skype for Business Plan 2 and broadcast meetings to thousands of people at a go.

Within the Broadcast feature, a meeting host presented through the Skype for Business client as attendees tuned in via browser on a device of their choice. Skype Meeting Broadcast could support meetings of ''up to 10,000 people''.

Cloud PBX was now limited as a preview only for Office 365 users in the US, but Microsoft had promised to extend the availability to customers worldwide later this year.

The system also integrated Yammer and Bing Pulse so that speakers could collect and respond to live back-channel feedback in real time.
