NHPC net vaults over 94 per cent to Rs2,091 crore

State-run National Hydro Power Corporation Ltd achieved highest-ever net profit of Rs2,090.50 crore for the financial year ended 31 March 2010.

This represents a 94.43-per cent increase from the after-tax net profit of Rs1,075.22 crore earned during the previous financial year (April 2008-March 09).

NHPC also achieved an all-time high sales turnover of Rs4,218.90 crore – a 57.90 per cent rise from last year's sales turnover of Rs2,671.85 crore.

Sales realisation of Rs3,603.93 crore also was at an all-time high and up 48.90 per cent from the previous year's realisation of Rs2,420.36 crore.

NHPC, which floated its initial public offer in August 2009, saw its IPO oversubscribed almost 24 times with bids of more than Rs140,000 crore and more than 13 lakh applications.

NHPC is now listed on both NSE and the BSE from 1 September 2009.
