Samsung ACs top BEE Star label appliance award

Samsung Electronics was today awarded the first prize for air conditioners at the National Energy Conservation Awards 2011. It was given the award as the best manufacturer of BEE star labelled appliances in the air conditioner category in New Delhi at Function presided by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh..
Samsung was judged on criteria like the number of star-labelled products sold, the energy savings achieved by its technology and the growth in sales of energy-efficient products over the previous year.
''Samsung was the first to introduce star ratings across its entire refrigerator range and we are committed to promoting energy efficiency across our entire product portfolio, be it televisions, refrigerators or air conditioners,'' said Mahesh Krishnan, vice president, home appliances, Samsung India. Samsung also received a certificate of merit for its refrigerators at the NECA 2011.
Launched by the Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE), the National Energy Conservation Award recognizes individuals and companies who have demonstrated a significant and tangible commitment to the cause of energy efficiency and energy conservation, and have become a prominent showcase for energy efficiency's most industrious advocates and innovators since its inception in 1990.
Samsung said in a statement "The Samsung AC range has the S-UTR compressor, Smart Saver mode and S-inverter technology that contribute to lowering energy consumption by 60 per cent compared to conventional ACs. While the S-UTR Compressor maximises the energy efficiency of Samsung AC by up to 10 per cent, the Smart Saver and Smart Inverter technology automatically adjusts the AC cooling on or off depending upon the temperature to save electricity."
