The Volkswagen Group, walked away with awards for cars in each of the individual brands it sells in India - Audi, Skoda, and Volkswagen at the NDTV Car & Bike Awards.

The Audi A4 received the premium car of the year, the Skoda Fabia won the 'active small car of the year and the Volkswagen Jetta bagged the executive car of the year.

"The awards are the testimony to the fact that Volkswagen Group is a trusted player in India," said Joerg Mueller, president and managing director, Volkswagen Group India. "We aim to achieve many such testimonials in the New Year."

Having created a distinct category, as the country's first superhatch, the Fabia has won three awards this year. It scores particularly high on features such as practicality and roominess that appeal to a large segment of customers.

Once again it was cited  for its combination of style, performance, technology, safety and space in the hatchback segment.

The award was presented to Ashutosh Dixit, GM, sales, SkodaAuto India and Meghna Choksey, PR & Corporate Communications, SkodaAuto India.

 ''We are delighted that the Superhatch Fabia has been chosen as the 'compact car of the year'," said Dixit while accepting the award. "This is wonderful recognition, which Skoda car owners and Skoda employees alike can celebrate in the country. The Fabia has exceeded our highest expectations, demonstrating it can compete and win against the best compact cars in the market.''

The value of the car is enhanced by features like dual front air bags, alloy wheels, parking sensors, ABS, MSR and Dual Rate Brake Assist, auxiliary audio input, electric sunroof, dual-tone interiors, completely adjustable driving position, projector headlamps, power windows and mirrors and 185/60 R 14 tubeless tyres.

Muller also handed over the award for the brand ambassador of the year to ex Miss World and actress Priyanka Chopra.

The NDTV Car & Bike Awards are organised by NDTV Profit and Next Gen Publishing, the publishers of Car India and Bike India Magazine.
