Groupon cancels all scheduled and ongoing gun-related promotions

Groupon has for at least some time cancelled all its scheduled and ongoing gun-related promotions, Matt Brownell at Aol Daily Finance reports.
A Groupon spokesperson told Daily Finance that all scheduled and current gun-related deals featured on Groupon North America, including shooting ranges, conceal-and-carry and clay shooting, had been placed on hiatus while internal standards that shaped the deal inventory were reviewed.
The spokesperson added, the category was under review following recent consumer and merchant feedback.
According to Michael Cargill, the owner of a gun shop in Texas, his Groupon deal - a concealed handgun training course -- had been canceled and the representative has told him Groupon CEO Andrew Mason was behind the decision.
Cargill was now calling for a boycott of Groupon.
The announcement comes in the wake of December's Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting in Connecticut, and vendors like Cargill who were offering those deals are naturally not happy with the development.
