Soldiers' mutilation: India provides 'actionable evidence' to Pak envoy

India on Wednesday summoned Pakistan High Commissioner Abdul Basit and demanded action against Pakistani soldiers responsible for killing and mutilation of two Indian soldiers on Monday.

Foreign secretary S Jaishankar today summoned Pakistani High Commissioner Abdul Basit to convey India's outrage and demanded action from Islamabad over the killing and barbaric mutilation of the bodies of two Indian soldiers by Pakistan army personnel.

On Monday, personnel of Pakistan's Border Action Team ambushed Indian Army's Naib Subedar Paramjeet Singh and BSF's head constable Prem Sagar and killed them. Their mutilated bodies were later found in Krishna Ghati sector of Poonch district of J&K

Addressing a press conference, external affairs ministry spokesperson Gopal Baglay said the foreign secretary conveyed India's outrage at the killing and the "barbaric act" of mutilation of the bodies of two Indian soldiers on 1 May 2017 by Pakistani army personnel.

Giving details about the meet, the MEA spokesperson said our foreign secretary categorically told Basit that the attack was preceded by covering fire from Pakistani posts in Battal sector.

Baglay said blood sample of Indian soldiers that have been collected and the trail of blood on Roza Nala clearly shows that the killers returned across the Line of Control.

Jaishankar demanded that Pakistan take immediate action against its soldiers and commanders responsible for the heinous act.

Basit, as usual, denied any involvement of Pakistani Army in the barbaric act, but assured that he would inform the Pakistani administration about the India's concerns.
