To weed out bogus voting, a voter's Aadhar card number will now be added to the voter list.

According to a brief PTI report, the district administration in Faridabad, Uttar Pradesh, has launched a drive to collect the Aadhar card numbers of voters and link these to electoral rolls.

The administration has started the updating and rectification of the electoral list in Faridabad.

After completion of this drive, the electoral roll will be rectified and it will greatly help check incidents of bogus voting and multiple registration.

Under the new scheme, voters have to provide Aadhar card number, mobile number and voter card number to the electoral officers, or one can directly update details on the web portal of the Election Commission of India. It will also provide an opportunity to make changes of details in voter ID cards.
