AAI gets Rs99 crore for developing airports news

New Delhi: The annual budget has set out a total plan outlay of Rs12,165 crore for the civil aviation ministry, of which a sum of Rs190 crore will be provided as budgetary support to various organisations under the ministry.

Of the Rs190 crore, India's airport developer, Airports Authority of India (AAI) has been allocated Rs99.15 crore for development of airports. While Rs79.15 crore has been allocated for development of airports at Jammu, Srinagar and Puducherry along with a few other airports, Rs20 crore has been allocated for development of airports in the north-eastern states.

India's aviation regulator Director General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) will get budgetary support of Rs50 crore while Rs14 crore will go to the Bureau of Civil Aviation Security (BCAS) to enable these agencies implement various schemes.

A sum of Rs10 crore has been allocated to state-owned firm, Pawan Hans Helicopters Ltd. for building heliports in the National Capital Region (NCR) for use during the upcoming Commonwealth Games.

Aviation training schools like the Indira Gandhi Rashtriya Uran Akademi and Aeroclub of India have been provided Rs8 crore and Rs5 crore, respectively, the statement said.
