The Budget has extended the stimulus package given to print media for six months from 30 June 2009 to 31 December 2009. In February, the ministry of information and broadcasting had enhanced the existing rates for the DAVP advertisements on the demand of captains of media industry. The fiscal stimulus package for the print media included waiver of 15 per cent agency commission on DAVP advertisements and a 10 per cent increase in the DAVP rates (to be paid as a separate element and designated as 'special relief') subject to documentary proof of loss of revenue in non-governmental advertisements. Meanwhile, in a separate development, the I&B ministry has appointed Raghu Menon as its secretary.
