3,000 hectares of crops lost in tsunami in Keralanews

About 3,054 hectare of agricultural land had been affected in the tsunami that lashed the state's coastline last week. This was disclosed by Kerala's revenue minister, KM. Mani.

The agriculture loss is estimated to be Rs631.23 lakh. The tidal waves destroyed 2,257 fishing nets, 10,065 boats and connected equipments, he said. Details on the damages were being collected and a final report would be made available only after completing the assessment. Mani said Rs4.41 crore had been spent for the rehabilitation of the affected people till date. A total of 39,843 people were accommodated in 48 relief camps, the release added.
