WEF India Summit to focus on infra, inclusive growth, protectionism

The India Economic Summit, being organised by the Geneva-based World Economic Forum (WEF), is set to begin on 14 November in New Delhi. The three-day summit will focus on issues like infrastructure, inclusive growth and protectionism.

The event will see participation from over 700 corporate chiefs and board representatives from 50 countries.

During the summit, finance minister Pranab Mukherjee and home minister P Chidambaram will interact with industry captains from home and overseas.

Under the theme, ''Implementing India'', the summit will attempt to set the context for moving from agenda to action.

The summit will focus on modalities for domestic and international decision-makers from business, government and civil society to implement national policies across the states in both rural and urban areas to accelerate economic development, lift barriers to growth and increase social inclusion.

Among the luminiaries who will be participating in the annual event are Reliance Industries chairman and managing director Mukesh Ambani, SBI chairman O P Bhatt, ICICI Bank managing director and CEO Chanda Kochhar and Bharti Enterprises chairman and group CEO Sunil Bharti Mittal. The annual event has been organised here for the past 25 years.
