New
Delhi: The first quarter growth in infrastructure
has been 4.1 per cent. The six key infrastructure industries,
except electricity, performed poorly in the first quarter
of this year and the 4.1-per cent growth is way below
the 6.2-per cent growth in previous year's corresponding
period.
Official
figures released yesterday said the growth in six key
infrastructure industries crude petroleum, petroleum
refinery products, coal, electricity, cement and finished
steel in the month of June 2003 fell to 4.7 per
cent as against 7 per cent in June 2002.
However,
the infrastructure performance was improving on a monthly
basis this year since it rose from 3.9 per cent in April,
to 4.0 per cent in May and then to 4.7 per cent in June
2003-04.
