Bandra-Worli Sea Link: One-way toll on BWSL fixed at Rs50

The toll for using the Bandra-Worli Sea Link (BWSL), connecting the western suburbs with south Mumbai is fixed at Rs50 for one way trip for four wheelers, which makes it an expensive journey for the motorist.

Moreover, there won't be any monthly passes. There will also be no waiver for taxis or buses.

The time gained on the sea link would be lost in the jams just after one enters the Worli road, as the entry and exit roads are very congested. This makes it very expensive to use the freeway for a common citizen. In short, for saving 10 minutes, one has to pay Rs50, one traveler said.

MSRDC has fixed that the maximum speed limit on the bridge at 50km per hour.

Even if the bridge is extended to Nariman Point eventually, it will only aggravate the problem as the business district is still a congested zone with little parking space.

Some people, however, believe that motorists will face traffic jams especially at Worli, and Mumbaikars will benefit only if the bridge is extended to Nariman Point.

Although the bridge is designed for speeding at 100km per hour, initially the MSRDC plans to impose a 50km per hour speed limit to enable motorists to get used to the bridge and prevent accidents. Two lanes are proposed to be reserved exclusively for buses and heavy vehicles.
