Mumbai: Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) has set 21 May as a deadline for the prospective bidders to submit their proposal for Mumbai's first ever inter-state bus terminal (ISBT) project.
Following the request for proposal, MMRDA said that it would follow a single stage, four-level, four-packet system for evaluating the bids, setting the stage for the ISB Terminal.
The project will be executed and operated on a public-private partnership (PPP) basis and the terminal would be leased out to the prospective bidder for a lease period of 25 years.
According to Ratnakar Gaikwad, Metropolitan Commissioner, MMRDA, ''One of the primary objectives of developing the ISBT is to control and systemise the random pick and drop points and indiscriminate parking of private bus operators in Mumbai so as to decongest the roads and ensure steady movement of traffic.''
The ISBT will come up on a 4.5 hectare plot situated next to the Wadala Truck Terminus.
The private developer will design, built, finance and operate the terminal and commercial activities at the premises.
