Chennai: Tamil Nadu chief minister Dr.M Karunanidhi
and the South Australian premier Mike Rann signed an
agreement on 30 October, 2006, in Chennai committing
Tamil Nadu and South Australia into a sister state agreement
because of the convergence of interests of both entities.
This
is Rann''s third visit to India as he has committed to
visit the country every year during his term in office.
Rann is in India with a high-level business delegation
and is scheduled to visit Bangalore and Mumbai during
the trip.
During
his visit, he will be calling on top political leaders,
industrialists and Indian film producers to forge stronger
bilateral ties between India and South Australia.
According to A K Tareen, director, Trade and Investment
for South
Australia, "There is a close synergy between South
Australia and Tamil Nadu in sectors such as automotive,
education, films, tourism, food, water, sports, IT and
biotech. "
