idbi to become a universal bank
mumbai: the board of industrial development bank of india has given mandate to the management of the bank to convert itself into a universal bank. it has told the bank to prepare a plan to achieve universal bank status with a focus on increasing international business.

the in-principle approval came after the board discussed the recommendations made by mrityunjaya athreya, management consultant appointed by the bank to prepare a restructuring plan.
