LIC unveils 100% IT network for customers

Kochi:
The function
dedicating 100-per cent network for Life Insurance Corporation
(LIC) customers of Ernakulam, Thrissur and Palakkad districts,
including Metro Area Network (MAN), Wide Area Network
(WAN), touch-screen kiosk and Interactive Voice Response
System (IVRS), has been launched here.
The advanced IT facility, which was implemented through
Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd (BSNL), includes MAN, under which
all the 25 branches coming under the Ernakulam division
(covering Ernakulam, Thrissur and Palakkad districts)
was interconnected through the computers functioning in
these branches.
The network will
help the policyholders to remit premiums in any of these
branches, regardless of the branch to which the policy
is attached. The status of the policies also can be obtained
by this facility.
The WAN facility ensures that the facility is extended
on an all-India basis and remittance of premium and obtaining
status report of policies could be had from any of 2,048
branches of LIC in India.
The touch-screen kiosks were installed in some of the
branch, divisional and zonal offices of LIC. By this facility
the customers can obtain information about LIC, its performance,
schemes and statuses of policies by the touch of the screen.
The kiosks are interactive and user-friendly. Such kiosks
are also to be installed in bus and railway stations and
in busy thoroughfares of major towns and cities. Branches
in Thrissur and Palakkad have been provided with these
kiosks. In due course, payment of premium will also be
made by dropping cheques and DDs in drop-in boxes.
