Major auto makers in the country such as Maruti Suzuki, Mahindra & Mahindra, Hero Honda and TVS Motor today saw their February domestic sales rise double-digit even though the rate slowed from last year. Hyundai Motor India, however saw its domestic sales grow only 5.25 per cent at 32,629 units. The company's total sales fell by 4.77 per cent in the last month though not quite as sharply as it exports, which were down by 17.92 per cent. As against this Maruti Suzuki the largest car maker in the country, Maruti Suzuki India saw its sales rise 19.79 per cent for the domestic market in February at 1,01,543 units. Also Mahindra & Mahindra's domestic sales rose 20.27 per cent at 31,967 units as against 26,580 units in the year-ago period. Tata Motors' passenger vehicles sales stood at 31,909 units, registering an increase of 18.25 per cent from the corresponding last year figure of 26,985 units. According to analysts, the moderated numbers from the big players in the Indian auto industry are in contrast to around 30 per cent growth witnessed by the sector in 2010.
