Pankaj Chandra appointed as chief lead, BigFlix

Pankaj Chandra has been appointed as chief lead the online business of movie rental company BigFlix.com, owned by Reliance Big Entertainment.

The company follows a subscription model to acquire consumers, who then order movies on rent. Apart from its online presence, the company also sells its subscription offers through 112 retail stores in India.

Chandra will handle online marketing besides boosting traffic to the BigFlix website in order to acquire more online customers.

Chandra has about 15 years of experience in media, e-commerce and marketing of which 11 were spent with the Times Group, during which he was involved in Times FM (now Radio Mirchi) and later, became part of the team which started the Indiatimes website in 1998. He looked after the shopping section of Indiatimes as category head and was also responsible for setting up the online arm of music store Planet M.

In 2005, he moved to Sify, where he was responsible for the e-commerce arm of the portal, moving the next year to a travel management company Kuoni and managed its e-commerce function.
