Complete digitisation of TV services in the four metros, scheduled to be completed by 31 October, is well on its way, with only 15 per cent of households remaining, the information and broadcasting ministry said today.

In the four metropolitan cities - Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai and Kolkata – 85 per cent of the target has been met, the ministry said in a release from New Delhi.

This figure has been achieved by taking into consideration only homes with cable connections, the release said.

"Taking into account DTH, the percentage of digitisation has gone up to 90 per cent. Metro-wise progress shows Mumbai has nearly achieved 100 per cent digitisation. Delhi has achieved 83 per cent digitisation of cable homes and with DTH, the percentage of digitisation is 88 per cent," it said.

In Kolkata, cable homes have reached 80 per cent digitisation and with DTH, the percentage of digitisation goes up to 82 per cent.

In Chennai, the cable homes are showing 61 per cent digitisation and together with DTH, the percentage of digitisation goes up to 85 per cent.
