Clariant transfers speacilty chemicals manufacturing to Colour-Chem

Mumbai: The life science chemicals division of Clariant, a leading Switzerland-based specialty chemicals company, has transferred the manufacture of building blocks primarily based on Friedel-Crafts reactions from Germany to its affiliate in India Colour-Chem Limited.

The Indian company's plant at Roha near Mumbai, will now produce the chemicals range. An investment of Rs80 million has been made to expand and rationalise the existing plant at Roha for the manufacture of Friedel-Crafts products, such as acetophenones, as well as specialty intermediates used in the manufacture of agrochemicals and pharmaceuticals. These products will cater to both local and export markets.
