In an exclusive marketing deal with Snapdeal, Vu Televisions has launched 50-inch and 55-inch 4K Ultra HD TVs which would be available online exclusively through the retailer.

The 50-inch TV comes with a price tag of Rs89,900 while the 55-inch version is priced Rs1,19,000. The company would also sell the newly launched TVs through its channel partners.

At the launch event, Devita Saraf, CEO and design head, Vu Televisions said the new 50-inch Ultra High Definitions televisions from VU were priced at half the cost of similar models from Sony and Samsung. The Samsung 48-inch 4K TV is available for Rs1,59,556 while the 55-inch Sony's equivalent model costs Rs 2,18,000, she said. Saraf added that the panels were made in Japan and Korea while the plastics were made in China.

According to Vu this comes as the first instance of integration of the world's first quad-core graphics engine along with its newly launched TVs to deliver an accelerated Ultra HD experience that could upscale basic set-top box content to more detailed and sharper images.

The Ultra HD TVs would be available at 380 locations across India with direct shipping and service from Vu's certified customer service centre.

Saraf said, customers buying the TVs from Snapdeal would get free shipping and in the event of any damage to the product during delivery, the company would replace it for free.

The Samsung 48HU8500 48-inch 4K 3D LED Smart TV is priced Rs 1,59,900, while LG and Sony also come with 49-inch 3840 x 2160p resolution models at Rs 1,64,900 and Rs 1,74,900, correspondingly.

According to the company it had embedded, what it said was the world's first quad core graphics engine in its UHD TVs. This would supposedly upscale set-top box content so that the screen showed details and visuals sharper than what had been provided by the original source. The timing of the latest launches coincides with the festive buying season in the country.

According to Vu Televisions it had not signed up a brand ambassador as yet and claimed that its consumers were good enough for the job seeing as they had given 5-star ratings to the company's products on eCommerce websites. Online, only Snapdeal would be exclusively selling the 55-inch and 50-inch TVs which would be made available soon.

Commentators said, Snapdeal was apparently chosen as it could boast of over 30 per cent month-on-month growth rate in the televisions category.
