Mumbai:
Chennai's international business school, Great Lakes Institute
Of Management (GLIM), has announced the launch of its
greatlakesMDP, a series of management development workshops
for the Indian business community across the country.
It is to start with one-day workshops in Chennai and Bangalore
this month, aimed at policy makers and implementation
managers.
GLIM
is promoted by leading Indian and American academicians,
supported by a group of Indian industrialists. It is headed
by Dr Bala V Balachandran of the Kellogg School of Management.
It has an innovative management programme, emphasising
value-based business education.
The
first workshop, conducted by internationally acclaimed
services marketing guru Prof M Ven Venkatesan of the University
of Rhode Island, will focus on the dynamic marketing changes
taking place in the services industry in the new millennium.
Speaking
at the press conference, Prof Venkatesan said: "This
program will give general managers insights from both
organisation-wide and functional perspectives, enabling
them to take a strategic view and maximise the internal
consistency of the organisation's activities."
GLIM
plans on making the MDP a regular event and will focus
on industry verticals such as Finance, IT, Healthcare,
ITeS, Hospitality Education, Human Resource, Consulting,
Market Research, Facility Management, Warehousing and
Transportation.
Executive
Director of GLIM Prof Sriram said: "The workshops
will employ case studies and introduce participants to
helpful frameworks
and models through which their own experiences can be
analysed, developing their managerial style to meet the
needs of the organisational culture."
