Mumbai:
The board of approvals (BoA) for special economic zones
(SEZs) has given formal clearances to 26 proposals and
an in-principle nod to eight others taking the total number
of SEZs cleared so far to 212.
The
proposals given in-principle nod include two by Dr Reddy's
Laboratories (DRL) in Andhra Pradesh.
The
BoA considered a total of 82 proposals out of which 34
were cleared. While the board has given formal clearance
to a total of 212 proposals, it has granted in-principle
approvals to 152 so far, an official release said.
The
proposals given formal clearance include an SEZ each for
food processing and pharmaceuticals proposed by the Karnataka
Industrial Area Development Board, a sugarcane processing
complex in Karnataka, proposed by Shree Renuka Sugars
and Parsvnath Developers' IT SEZ in Kerala.
The
board also gave formal nod to TCG Urban Infrastructure
Holdings' biotech SEZ in Kerala, APIIC's two biotech and
pharma SEZs in Andhra Pradesh, Mayatas Properties' three
SEZs in Andhra Pradesh and Emaar Hills Township's IT SEZ
in Andhra Pradesh.
DRL's
two proposals for pharma SEZs in Andhra Pradesh were given
in-principle approval. Other proposals that were given
in-principle nod include Writers and Publishers' 2,000
hectare multi-product SEZ in Chhattisgarh and Hinduja
Investments' TextileSEZ
in Bangalore.
The
BoA deferred approval for Shyam Burlap company's application
for a 1,012-hectare multi-product zone in Kamrup district
of Assam, the first proposal from a northeastern state.
