Demand for petro-products in India
22 January 2000
By 2002, the total demand for petroleum products in India is expected to be 103.2 million tonnes. That will result in a surplus of 10 million tonnes considering that supply from the expanded refining capacity is estimated to be 113.2 million tonnes. A strong growth is predicted in the LPG consumption due to high urban spread and rise in income levels. This shift to LPG is likely to bring down kerosene consumption. Fuel supply agreements with emerging power plants is likely to boost naphtha consumption.
