Suntech - Open Energy tie-up to offer innovative solar energy solutions

Suntech Power Holdings Co. Ltd, the China based manufacturer of solar energy products has singed an agreement with Open Energy Corp (OTC), that allows Suntech exclusive global rights to manufacture and market the American firm's building integrated solar roof membrane product.
Under the agreement Suntech will manufacture and market world-wide, Open Energy's, lightweight, easy to install solar membrane product.
The agreement enables Suntech to complement its current product range with Open Energy's innovative BIPV solutions to offer a comple set of products to address the requirements of the residential and commercial segment of the market.
Open Energy's light weight, flat roof membrane to be marketed by Suntech under the SolarEze(TM) brand is easy to install even over existing roofs and typically does not require structural reinforcement. It is also resistant to water, hail and wind.
Suntech, which is currently evaluating distribution alternatives will manufacture the product to meet the highest quality standards in line with the terms of the agreement.
Meanwhile, the green technology sector seems to have started feeling the heat of the continuing economic uncertainity with Suntech's China operations shedding 8000 jobs, accounting for a full 10 per cent of its staff. The company had planned to hire 2000 addtional employees in 2009; the staff expansion now stands canceled.
