19 February 2009
Power equipment maker Areva T&D India has received the first private sector order to provide equipment for the 765kV sub station.
The 765kV substation switchyard will connect the Anpara 'C' 1200 MW (2x600 MW) thermal power plant being developed by Lanco Infratech at Anpara in Uttar Pradesh to the Northern Grid. All the major 765kV equipment like circuit breakers, disconnectors, instrument transformers, automation, and protection systems will be produced indigenously in Areva's Indian plants.
Circuit breakers and disconnectors will be manufactured in the company's new state of art factory at Padappai (Tamil Nadu) while 765 kV instrument transformers will be supplied from its new plant at Hosur (Tamil Nadu).
The project will be fully commissioned by April 2010.
''The 765 kV substation order for Anpara 'C' 1200 MW thermal power plant is the first such turnkey order awarded by a private developer," said Rathin Basu, country president and managing director.
"With this, Areva India has bagged two out of the three orders placed to date for 765kV sub stations in India."
