Huawei launches Ideos smartphone in India

Huawei Technologies' subsidiary Huawei Device today launched the Android 2.2-based Ideos smartphone in India, priced at Rs8,499.
Ideos features a 2.8''QVGA screen, 3.2 megapixel camera, a proximity and ambient light sensor, and offers expandable memory support up to 32GB. It supports WiFi 802.11 n, which allows users to connect with a maximum of eight devices via a mobile WiFi router, 3G HSDPA and USB connectivity.
Huawei said it has sold over 1 million Ideos phones within two months of its global launch late last year.
''Driven by the global success and Indian market potential for smart devices, we are planning to launch our other Ideos smart devices in the market very soon'', said P Sanjeev, sales director at Huawei Devices.
Ideos will be available in multiple cities across India from Aircel, Tata Docomo stores, the company said.
Huawei Technologies provides next-generation telecommunications solutions for operators around the world. In India, Huawei Devices has been offering products like mobile broadband, home convergence, CDMA and 3G mobile handsets and video conferencing equipment.
