The Chennai-based software company, Botree Software International Ltd, has formally launched its web-enabled stockists automation solution Stocky, specially targeted at fast moving consumer goods (FMCG) and pharmaceutical distributors.

Mr. N. Jayan, vice president, Botree said, "The specialty of Stocky is that it not only takes care of inventory management but also billing, consignment tracking, data transfer, financial reports, primary and secondary sales analysis, batch reporting and management."

Stocky will be sold to FMCG and pharma companies in bulk, to be given to their distributors/stockists "With our package, corporates can get crucial market data -- fast/slow moving products, stock position etc. -- which is not possible from other software packages," claims Mr Jayan. According to him, companies should at least automate 30 per cent of their stockists who contribute 70 per cent of the revenue.

The Rs 8 crore equity-based company has bagged major companies like Hindustan Lever, Nestle, Johnson & Johnson, Marico Industries, Nicholas Piramal, as its clients already. According to Mr Jayan, companies are now automating their stockists/distributors first before venturing into e-commerce.

Stocky aside, Botree has another software package called Online Activity Monitoring System (OAM) that helps in online monitoring of a company's sales force. The company has successfully implemented a package for Marico Industries.

Another web-enabled retail product that is being planned by Botree is a set-top box with its software package installed in it. "This will be sold to small retailers. Many retail shops today have television and the set-top box would web-enable them," Mr Jayan says. Botree is talking to a couple of set-top box manufacturers for sourcing purposes.
