Hyderabad: Convergs Corporation, business process services provider, which declared $2.3bn revenues in 2003-04, has inaugurated its IT campus here that would focus on research and development and handle Asia-Pacific professional services practice.

Larry Schwartz, executive vice-president of Convergys, global information management operations told the press that the Hyderabad IT campus would provide support and augment Convergys's delivery capability and strengthens its support infrastructure outside India.

Convergys, a major player in the BPO sector in India, with extensive voice related and tech support operations is planning to expand its business into non-US markets since a majority of it is currently US-centric. Having grown the India operations rapidly, it is exploring other markets and new streams of business.

An official at the sidelines of the press meet said India and Philippines were the company's two major centers outside of the US. He said that the company was focusing on growing the Indian operations and future growth for the company is likely to come from its voice operations than from tech support.
