iSoft opens center in Hyderabad news

Hyderabad: Manchester-based iSoft Group plc, supplier of software applications for hospitals and healthcare organisations, has announced the opening of its second development centre in India, iSoft R&D, at Hyderabad. The centre is also expected to serve as a business continuity and disaster recovery centre.

Addressing a press conference here the chief executive officer of iSoft India, Ravan Boddu, said this the company would induct about 200 people at its centre in the city. He said the company chose to locate the centre in the city due to its proximity to Chennai where it opened its first development centre and also because a number of its partners like Accenture were located here.

The setting up of the R&D centre is in line with the company's announcement last year of a an investment of $100 million in Indian operations over a three-year time frame.

Satya Kaliki, the company's director, global product management, said, "iSoft will be undertaking high end product development providing unique and exciting opportunities to work in cutting edge technology for a select number of Hyderabad's most innovative IT individuals."

iSoft, listed on the London Stock Exchange, had revenues of about $281 million last fiscal. Of the total 2,800 people working for the company globally across various locations, the Chennai centre employs 1,000 people.
